Ask A Question
Cycling is one of the most popular past times in the UK, especially amongst children. For this reason, parents are becoming increasingly worried about their children’s safety while out and about.
We already make our kids wear safety helmets and they should also be wearing reflective clothing, although as it’s often seen as ‘uncool’ it can be hard to get children to wear them.
So how about giving your children a gift that they’ll not only consider ‘cool’, but will improve the level of safety when the children are out on their bikes? Well that’s now possible with the new Bike SpokeLit.
These great little gadgets clip to the spokes of any bike, lighting up the wheels as they turn. The lights can be changed from a constant glow, to a flashing light. If you have the light on all the time, you’ll see that it produces an extremely cool ‘ring of light’ effect, which will keep your kids occupied whilst secretly making them more visible to traffic and passers-by.
The lights’ batteries don’t run out for a long time, meaning you won’t be worrying about them dying while your children are out and about. Installation is quick and simple, making them perfect for children to add to the bikes themselves.
The lights are completely suitable for either gender, meaning they can be bought even if you’re looking for gifts for girls. The lights are available in either green, red or blue, meaning you’re OK whichever football team the children support.
Let’s face it, being safe is uncool to children, so being able to give them something that helps keep them safe without them really knowing seems ideal. Simply wait for a birthday or Christmas, and slip the lights in with their other toys and you’ll probably find they’re on the bike by lunchtime.
So don’t get caught up worrying whenever your children go out on their bikes, just grab them a SpokeLit each and you can relax, knowing at least they’re safer than they were.

We might still be a little way off Christmas yet, but there’s no such thing as ‘too early’ when it comes to Christmas shopping, as starting now can help you spread the cost of the holidays. Shopping for children can often be tough however, as it’s genuinely hard to call which toys or gadgets are going to be seen as ‘cool’. So to try and help you find some good gifts, here are three suggestions for gifts for him or her.
First on the list is the Sound Hat from iLogic, which is far more than just you’re average beanie hat. The hat features built in speakers, allowing you to keep your head warm and listen to your favourite tunes all at the same time. The Sound Hat takes away the necessity for headphones (or earphones), and can be plugged into your iPod, or any portable MP3 player. Extremely well priced at only £14.99, the hats come in a range of colours including black, white, blue and pink, so they’re ideal whether you’re looking for gifts for her or him.
If you’re shopping for a younger boy, then why not try the Hexbug robots, available for around £9.99. The robots feature sound and object sensors that mean they will be able to dodge obstacles as they run around the room. They’ll also react to sound, so if you clap your hands while they’re moving, they’ll stop and scurry of in a different direction. These would make ideal stocking fillers; they’re fun, affordable, well made and should entertain any young child for hours on end.
Last on the list is the Snug Rug Lite, which is ideal for slightly older children. If your children are particularly good at lying on the sofa not doing much, then this could be the ideal Christmas present. The Snug Rug Lite is like large, comfortable blanket with arms, meaning you can put them on and stay warm regardless of how much you move around. The Snug Rug comes in numerous sizes and colours and costs around £20 from most retailers, making these the perfect Christmas gifts for lazy kids.
