Ask A Question
SCAM ALERT!!
True? False? Reliable? Sabotage?
The very entities that claim they can assist you in avoiding scams could actually steer you away from perfectly legitimate opportunities and/or businesses.
Never take an article, a bad comment or even several negative comments at full face value when making a decision to work with a company. Bad news actually sells and provides excellent profit potential to those that don’t necessarily have your best interest in mind.
Analyze what you do on the Internet when seeking information about a company, organization or opportunity. You could see a long list of kudos, positive testimony, accolades, etc. But, in the midst of all that positive feedback — you see the word SCAM! And immediately, like a magnet, your curser hones in on the word. In a split second you are reading all about how horrible and deceptive the company is.
Wait a minute. What about all the positive, impressive information on that company? Because of a few scam claims you’re no longer impressed? Now the company is obviously some kind of illegal ponzi scheme and… “Whew, I could have been scammed! Good thing I did my due diligence?” Did you?
If you draw your conclusion based off of one or a few bad posts you just might find later on you should have researched more thoroughly.
Selina Brantley, CEO and Founder of WealthCreationsNetwork.com briefly experienced a disturbing situation from a disgruntled employee. Not of her own company, but of a company she planned to strategically align with and do business.
Selina explains, “This disgruntled employee contacted me via email and made fraud claims against the company that just fired him. He suggested that I cease all business dealings with his former employer and join forces with him.
Since he was part of this company’s technical team, he was able to wreak havoc with his former employer’s web site and proceeded to email other customers and clients this company had worked so hard to obtain.
Just by his actions I knew he was bad news and decided to ignore his requests to join forces with him. However, when he realized I preferred to continue to do business with his former employer, he proceeded to set up a scam post and began to spread disparaging words against my character and my company’s character as well.”
This truly was disheartening for Ms. Brantley, but she said, “Because of the relationships I established with my current members, there wasn’t any internal damage. However, I knew this disgruntled employee’s scam report could be damaging to me and my members since it possibly would be harder to encourage new people to join my wealth builder’s club.”
Fortunately for Selina, this disgruntled employee was introduced to possible legal actions that would be taken against him if he did not recant the out right lies and claims he made against his former employer.
He immediately placed an apology on the site. However, once you place a scam post, you can change the content of the post, but you cannot erase the title. As long as people click on the title, the higher it goes in the search engines. And, there the scam claim remains. Even if the content is gone, a negative seed is planted in the minds of many possible customers.
There are other horror stories that don’t end as sweet as Ms. Brantley’s. Sometimes devious marketers place claims against helpless companies just to blackmail them into coughing up money to take the false claims off. Demands of as much as $10,000 and more have been reported.
In fact, co-owner and founder of RJC Affiliates, LLC had a client that experienced this same type of fraudulent and harmful scheme.
Mr. Edward Magedson, Circa 12/74
Founder, Badbusinessbureau.com, RipOffReport.com, travelripoffreport.com
“My experience is with Badbusinessbureau.com” starts Joshua Rodriguez “I do not want to go into great detail however, I will let you know that this site and others are scams created by one of the best con artists in the business. The sole purpose for these sites is to generate massive amounts of money at the expense of businesses small and large. It is simple to write a business review on one of these websites however, as a business owner it is difficult to get that review removed EVEN IF THE REVIEW WAS A FALSE CLAIM! Once you are on this site, your reputation on the internet drops whereas Edward Magedson has reached great search engine rankings. If you provide proof that the claim is false or ask for the article to be removed, you will receive an e-mail letting you know that getting the article removed will cost a large sum of cash. In my clients case that sum was over $10,000.00. Not only that, if you hesitate to act quickly that sum would double every 3 days. This is a scam in itself, in further research I found that at a young age Edward Magedson was found guilty of marijuana possession, check fraud, assault and battery and many other charges. As he grew older, he became a wanted man for more upscale crimes like extortion. At this time as far as my knowledge goes he is wanted in 3 separate countries for such criminal acts.” Joshua continues with “All I can do is warn people STAY AWAY FROM SCAM ALERT WEBSITES BECAUSE THEY ARE MOST LIKELY SCAMS THEMSELVES. The only way to truly understand how a company treats clients is to work with them yourself or talk to someone that you trust whole heartedly that has worked with them in the past!”
It’s important to not only look at different sources of information, but also review the proper sources as well before drawing your conclusions (good or bad) on a company. Talking to disgruntled employees and listening to businesses that compete with a particular company of interest is just not smart. They obviously have their own agendas and want to discourage your participation or connections with their enemy or competitor.
Your best bet is to focus on a company’s policies, terms, customer service, and current customer satisfaction. Quite often companies that want to build a superior reputation provide ways you can communicate with them and their representatives/members via conference calls, forums and/or blogs.
Obviously agencies like the Chamber of Commerce and the Attorney Generals Office are other excellent sources you may want to consider when investigating a business.
Although none of the above can guarantee you will never have a negative experience with a particular company, it should help you make logical and smart decisions that could save you a tremendous amount of time and cash in the long run.
Finally, there is one business review website I know of that really gives true company reviews to let you know if who you are dealing with is a scam. Not only can you write reviews but if you are a company representative and someone has written something about your company that is not true, they give you a chance to petition the post. After coming to England five years ago I have found my speaking skills have improved greatly – however the quality of my writing is another story. Functioning within a business my emails and reports need to be flawless. In my opinion where errors are okay in your conversation, to give the best impression the writing in reports must read very coherently. I have now used proofreading service proofreading service four times now and have been very impressed – despite not being the most professional site in the world the service has been pretty close to perfect (I have noticed maybe one mistake missed in 10000 words).
I actually got interested in the blog which is a great read for anyone interested in starting business online, but that’s another story. So I actually found the proofreading service was perfect for me and I started to use th very simple to submit proofreading service or my essays and reports I had t submit; I’m really writing this to tell you how useful the proofreading tool is within the workplace; especially if you are working with non English employees it maintains professional writing results
So I sent my original report of 2000 words to the site and made my payment in good faith; I wasn’t disappointed – I let the author know I really needed more professional report for business purposes in the email and he said he would get it back to me later the same day. I have to say I was very impressed – the service edits the English not just to make sense but sound professional also, it changes sentence structures and grammar so the report is very clear and understandable for my client.
I believe the service could be perfect if you are foreign businessman in the U.K like me or looking for work – if you want a great professional CV or polished report I would not hesitate. I’m sure it would have helped at university too with essays but it may be cheating as I did an English degree. All in all the proofeading website’s service is very professional and useful to me and despite only a few changes to my work this is vital – the service has not been longer than two days so if you’ve got a deadline it should be okay too and if you struggle writing it can be significant in making improvements.
Oh not forgetting the price – I honestly think to provide such a great service at £8 per 1000 words is a steal – the product you receive surely must take an hour so the hourly rate is very cheap. The most useful writing bargain on the internet if you ask me – a great proofreading service.
