Musical Instrument Is An Ideal Fathers Day Gift

Father’s Day is not far away and I am thinking getting my Dad a new musical instrument for this year’s special day. My Dad has been playing pianos ever since he was 5 years old and for some reason I want to get him a different instruments in the shape of Guitar. I believe its never too late to learn a new instrument and I am sure he will look at this as a new challenge also will be exciting for him to know learn guitar, if he doesn’t then he still has to. I don’t think getting him another piano would be a wise idea as he already has 3 pianos at home.

I have been playing guitar since I was young, so I think it’s time for me to switch to piano and him to switch to guitar just for fun activities really. I have been looking at getting acoustic guitars to buy for my Dad. I started with playing acoustic guitar and I believe because of its original sound acoustic is the best way to learn guitar. Learning through acoustic has helped me a lot and now I can play any guitar whether it’s electric, classical or bass.

My Father has been playing the piano for a very long time. Nowadays he transfers what he learnt to education and gives piano lessons to kids in schools and colleges. It’s also easy if you have a keyboard piano you will be able to carry it anywhere. May be I can start doing something like in few year, it will be surely help as some sort of an income. If we can get few customers together then we are planning to open guitar and piano teaching business and me learning piano and dad learning guitar will definitely be very useful.

Oh and last but not the least don’t be surprised to see a Father and Son playing instruments in Britain’s got talent in 12 to 16 months time.

“A Story Of A Tanned Hide From Wild Flower Road” By Ty Curtis

Life in a small, southern country town is pretty neat. There are no traffic jams, or hectic rush hours. The speed of life is laid back, and a lot slower than in the city. There are plenty of farms, and fields, and the air is clean in the country. The small town that I was from, Hemingway, South Carolina, is a town that fits this description perfectly. Oh, and by the way, the people who live in a small town get to know each other intimately. Living in this small town was definitely one of my initial influences in writing personalized children’s music. The slow pace of life, and limited distractions was the perfect place for a future music composer to cut his teeth.

Now every town has a school for its children to learn in, and Hemingway was no different. There was a day back in the early 1970’s that I remember as if it was yesterday. I was in the 7th grade at Hemingway Middle School. I was a pretty average student in school; not a whole lot to brag about, but nothing to be ashamed of either. Most of the time I came in and got my work done, and then couldn’t wait to get back home to play. I was always a little on the creative side of everything I did, and that included the way I did things at school.

One day I decided that I was going to leave school early after recess and return to my home (without telling anyone). Land was something that we had plenty of in the country, and we had a huge playground behind our school. It was so big that I didn’t think anyone would ever notice if I just strolled across that gigantic field, slipped through the woods, hit the road, and headed back home. Yeah, but people know each other really well in the country. And I waved to a few of my neighbors as I walked home. Miss Pat Durant drove by as I walked down Wild Flower Road. I waved to her too. She and my mom had been buddies since they were kids.

As I walked through the front door of my house, at noon, the phone was already ringing. It was my Momma on the other line, and she was just calling to let me know about a few things. Basically, she just wanted to let me know that I had just landed myself into a bunch of trouble. That night when she got home from work my hide was tanned.

The following day, back at school, I was sitting in class when the principal made an announcement over the intercom, “Would Tyson A. Curtis please report to the office.” The words reverberated throughout the entire building. I didn’t have a clue as to why I was being summoned. When I arrived at the office the principal said, “Ty, pull up a chair.” He asked me how my day went yesterday, and I informed him of the details of the memorable last night. He said, “Well it’s great that you have rules and consequences in your family. We have a few rules and consequences at school too.”

We were “old-fashioned” in that community, and after that nice talk with the principal two stiff blows from a wooden paddle would land on my rear. “Just reinforcing our rules about cutting class,” he said.

I learned a lot about living while residing in that small country town, and this was just another lesson. The “board of education” was very effective in that community and most of the kids from my town had a healthy respect for it. There were many stories that would be told from my hometown. But this wraps up the story of the tail that was tanned from Wild Flower Road.
